Launched in 2014 as The Town’s Half Marathon by Oakland local and sports marketing professional, Ryan Dawkins, before being acquired and then cancelled in 2017. Ryan is now spearheading the re-launch of the Oaktown Half to finish his original plans of a runner-focused, hyper-local event, in his hometown.
Runners will get a taste of Oakland’s authentic soul, from the steps of City Hall and Jack London Square to Uptown and Lake Merritt, the course will let runners in on the best of Oakland. Like everything else in Oakland, the experience will never be ordinary and always unexpected.
The Oaktown Half is in partnership with the successful Oakland Turkey Trot and continues the non-profit group's efforts to raise impactful funds for Oakland Schools and Alameda County Community Food Bank.
